funny high rev problems on my vr6

ive been having a issue with my vr6

sometimes when i go above 5000 rpm it cuts out and sounds like its choking

what do ou thinks wrong

i recently changed the air fliter to one of the sports airfilters cone shapped

Theres two relatively easy things to check.

Fuel filter might be clogged with debris,change it. Its underneath the car near the rearaxle on codrivers side.

Catalytic converter can melt,and then it starts to restrict the exhaust,and it might feel the car is choking.
